I have so many photos that I love and it’s hard to pick “the best” because each image is special in it’ own way. It’s fun to look back and see all the images that made for a wonderful 2012! While looking through the images I just kept coming back to this one, which meant that it had to be selected to enter into the I heart Faces Photo Challenge.

I had taken photos of this little guy’s birth, which was an honor in itself. It was very special to be able to take his one year photos with through a cake smash. I just love the cake all over his face and his offering to us of some of it. How sweet is he!?
It is hard to believe that just about 1 year ago I was in the hospital with mom and dad photographing the birth of their first child. It was my first experience with birth photography and I loved every minute of it! I headed to their house excited for a cake smash… as this was also the first time I’d done a session like that!

We started off with some bubbles. He enjoyed reaching for them and watching them float to the ground.

Here is the cake that mom got for the session. It went perfectly with the balloons and hanging lanterns I brought.

After the first few tastes he’s so happy!

Great spot in their backyard!

Such a sweetheart… he’s willing to share with me!

After awhile he left the cake and on the grass you could see a trail of frosting from where he’d been!

The cake at the end!
It was a great session and I’m so happy that my first cake smash was with you guys!
Enjoy!
We started off the gorgeous morning a little behind. I hit some unexpected traffic and felt terrible for being 5 minutes behind. I always strive to get to photo sessions 10-15 minutes early. It just wasn’t happening. This cute family of 3 was kind and didn’t bat an eyelash at the mini delay. Once we exchanged greetings we were off.
It wasn’t long before Little A decided she wasn’t going to be her usual happy self. Mom searched in the diaper bag for anything to catch her attention. We settled on a snack food at first and then that wasn’t enough… Then, Mom remember she had a tambourine in her car! So, off Dad went to retrieve it. When he came back and showed it to Little A this was her reaction:

Positively priceless and absolutely genius!
I plan to purchase one of my own and store it in my camera bag!

And so the photo session went on with me banging on the tambourine, wearing it like a hat, and dancing all over the place.
Hey, you do what you gotta do to get the shot, right?

And, get some shots, we did!

Turns out that cutting a molar tooth doesn’t feel so good! Poor Little A!
This family was the winner of my Feeling Lucky March contest on St. Patty’s Day!
I’m so happy after one rescheduled session we had a gorgeous day and some laughs!
I have to say that we’ve been spoiled with beautiful November weekends and I am not complaining! It was a gorgeous day when I met up with this beautiful, new family. They welcomed me into their house for the first ever family session. They had received a gift card from a friend and I was thrilled to be the first to document their new family.

They had set up their tree early so it would be ready for our session. It looked amazing!

Four month old Baby G already has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.

I can’t say I blame them! She is so adorable and can captivate you with her baby blues!

I believe her bear’s name is Oliver. He came to cuddle with her and she was thrilled! You can see just how tiny she is!

Such a sweet little face!
She is the first grand child on either side of the family and the first niece for the aunts and uncles… I’m thinking she’s going to have a pretty amazing first Christmas!
Wishing your family a wonderful first Christmas together! I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek!
The minute I walked in the door my eyes were drawn to the amazing decorations and colorful details that mom put together for her son Q. It was a celebration of his first year and what a glorious celebration it was!

Made by mom and with love

The birthday boy’s throne!

Awesome balloons in the living-room!

A table of beautifully wrapped gifts was another example of how much this boy was loved.

Birthday cake!

A candy bar for the adults!

A book that showed Q’s life in 12 months and it was amazing how much he changed.
The last page held these messages which guests wrote in.
What an amazing thing for him to have when he gets older!

Birthday present time! Q was so excited with the many flashy, musical toys he received!

Time for the birthday cake…

Mom gave him his first taste…

And you know how that turned out!
Happy Birthday Q! I am so glad to have met you and your family!
I hope your second year is just as great, if not better than your first!

I met baby B and his mom at a beach in Rye. It was a GORGEOUS evening!
This was B’s first time at the beach! He was so interested in everything around him.
B was turning one the next day and had a big party to look forward to!

When Mom placed him on the rocks he sat there like a true model!
He just took in all the surroundings and was such a cute yet serious boy!

This one is probably one of my favorites from the session!
I love how B is looking right at me.
I wonder what mom is thinking.
I gave it a vintage feel because it just fit this photo perfectly.

Towards the end of the session Mom put this adorable hat on B and he didn’t even react to it!
I was waiting for him to get upset about it simply because some babies don’t like things on their head!
He wore it so handsomely and those big cheeks of his just make me smile!

So sweet. <3

We ended the night with a series of photos like this.
Mom brought the letters and it was a brilliant idea! I love it and will have to use it in the future!
It was a wonderful afternoon! I am so glad I was able to document B the weekend of his first birthday!
Happy Birthday B! I hope to see you again!
