I believe we should always be learning about things we love. Not only am a I a member of New Hampshire’s Professional Photographers Association where I learn through workshops and seminars but I am also a member of the Rock the Shot Forum where I learn so much from photographers across the country. This month we have a photo challenge and it was to submit a self portrait. If you’re looking for a great place to get information and learn new things check out www.rocktheshotforum.com
I love to take picture of nature. I always have. I am drawn to the colors, the textures, the simplicity of things. I am slightly obsessed with the sunrise and sunset because the colors that are cast into the sky and onto the Earth are unlike any you’ll find anywhere else. I am in love with the natural beauty that surrounds us on a daily basis. It doesn’t take long to train your eye to see the tiny details that most miss.

I could spend hours outside taking pictures of blades of grass, leaves, flowers, bark, shadows, clouds… you name it.

I think it is so important to continue to build your personal photography portfolio and skill by taking pictures of whatever thrills you. It keeps you fresh, keeps you longing for more, and gets the creative mind working. Taking a weekend to shoot for yourself can do wonders for your soul.
“A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is,
Thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety.” Ansel Adams
Despite seeing the broken tree limbs I see on my way around town it is hard to believe that the just 2 weeks ago we were dealing with snow and an insane number of power outages across southern New England. It seems that life has gotten back to normal and the clean up from the storm has certainly begun. My husband and I were without power for 76 hours. Now, that doesn’t seem that long, and it certainly wasn’t as long as some people I know, but 76 hours without electricity and water IS a long time!
My husband had a day off during that time and decided that we should get out and go somewhere else… get away from the mess and the 1840 lifestyle we had to adapt to. He surprised me with a trip to the beach with our 4-year-old Boxer-Daisy. Oh, what a fantastic trip it was!

Daisy had never been to the beach before and it was probably one of the happiest days of her life!

I love the beach SO much. The smells, the sounds, the sights, the sand between my toes!
It was a gorgeous day and it didn’t seem possible that it had snowed just days before. I had slip on shoes and you better believe I took them off to get a feel of the sand on the bottoms of my feet one last time before winter was in full swing.

It was so peaceful being out there with only a few other people.

We enjoyed gorgeous blue skies with a bright golden sun shining down on us.

Daisy was a sandy mess, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

She thoroughly enjoyed running across the beach, chasing seagulls and the waves.

I was reminded though, that summer was over, and Autumn soon would be too.
I thank my husband for that trip because smelling the salty air one more time cleared away the annoyance of the power outage.
“The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears, or the sea.” –Isak Dinesen
Indulgence: What is one thing you treat yourself to?
Well, there are many things I treat myself to like Wild Berry Smoothies from Panera Bread or a pedicure in the summertime, maybe a new pair of shoes because a girl can never have too many shoes. The list goes on.
When it comes down to it, the one thing I make sure I get to at least once a week {hopefully more} is a good 3.2 mile run.

A runner needs some great shoes and man, my shoes are like running on clouds. I swear they were made for my feat!
I’ve logged many hours in these babies!

So far this year I’ve completed four 5ks and I am registered for two more in the fall. I should raise the bar and shoot for a 10k but right now I am enjoying where I am at with running. 3.2 miles is the perfect distance to reflect on life, pound out what isn’t going well, and clear my head. Plus it keeps me in shape!
To find out what other photographers indulge in visit:

Yesterday I spent the day with family eating, telling stories, setting off our own fireworks, and creating new memories in our July 4th celebration. I t was humid and sprinkled off and on throughout the day but the show still went on. I loved how my Great Aunt had her house outfitted in stars and stripes and I love how all those who attended our celebration were representing the colors of their flag in their wardrobe! There is something so amazing about the Red, White and Blue that brings goosebumps to my arms as I reflect on the celebrations that go on around the USA during the weekend and most importantly during today, July 4.
I hope whatever you do you enjoy yourself and find yourself safely at home at the end of the day and as you drift off to sleep don’t forget to thank those who made our freedoms possible because without them we certainly wouldn’t be where we are today.
God Bless the U.S.A

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day (if you’re into that kind of celebration)!
My husband and I went out to dinner to Buckley’s Steakhouse in Merrimack. Yuuummmy! That was the first time we’d both been there and it was worth every penny! We had made reservations and upon arrival I discovered a beautiful vase with light pink gerbera daisies! It was a sweet surprise. I love these flowers but don’t like how they don’t last too long.
I am happy with the changing temperatures and must admit that I am eager for spring to arrive! I can’t wait to get outside and do some photo sessions! Oh, that reminds me, if you recently got engaged or know someone who did, send them my way to set up an engagement photo session!
